Published in the UK since 1843. In 2012, the circulation exceeded 1,600,000 copies, more than half of which were sold in North America. Due to its global orientation, The Economist is not considered an exclusively English publication.
The main topics covered by the magazine are political events, international relations, financial, economic and business news, as well as science and culture. The editors of the magazine adhere to the positions of classical liberalism.
Since 1928, half of the company’s shares belong to the Financial Times, while the other half is in the hands of independent investors, many of whom are company employees and magazine correspondents.
